McClean
While every city in America seems like a ghost town today, here is a true classic Texas panhandle ghost town which we recently visited.
McLean was incorporated in 1909. Its founder, Alfred Rowe, was one of the 1500 people who died in the sinking of the Titanic.
The town reached its pinnacle of success during the oil boom of the 1920s, being a prominent stop along the famous Route 66.
The construction of I-40 in the 1940s, routed traffic away from McLean, leading to it's quick demise.
Today McLean stands frozen in that time.
