Top of Texas, Guadalupe Peak
The "Top of Texas." Guadalupe Peak, 8751 feet above sea level, rises impressively more than 3,000 feet above the Chihuahuan Desert plain at the southern end of the Guadalupe Mountain range. It's connecting neighbor, El Capitan, an iconic landmark of the West, while dominating the landscape, actually stands about 700 feet BELOW the Guadalupe Peak summit.
